ADC security and their Importance

Application Delivery Controller is a modern mechanism for networks that is designed for enhance the performance of a network infrastructure. It’s smart, convenient and it’s Basic features are  load-balancing of the servers and give users a better experience with the application, Monitor network traffics , Manage network traffics, Provide Security over network etc and help application to improve performance.ADC’s used to be physical device but in this modern era it’s also available as software and probably most preferable  one also because time and cost efficient and sometime provides better functionality then the hardware.

Security provided by Application  Delivery Controller(ADC)

Nowadays Security is one of the main concern of companies where every layer of the network needs to be secure. ADC’s provided many security features such as:-

User Authentication and validation : If ADC’s are based on SaaS then it can validate users credentials on-premises active directory data and Authenticate various network traffics.

Protection against Distributed Denial Of Service(DDOS) attack: ADC’s can use rate limiting to the inbound request of a network and when a huge amount of inbound request occurs then it can immediately stop the requests.

It can detect Malicious Content : It can detect malicious content of a inbound requests by checking the request header and if it finds anything suspicious then it automatically flag the request and block it. It naturally works as a firewall or gateway to the network. It’s security can also be enhanced by integrating third party security software’s and create a comprehensive hybrid security model.

How does Application Delivery Controller works?

Application Delivery Controller works as a next-gen load-balancer by routing the traffics in healthy server in no time. It monitors the traffics and the hardware as server’s or devices health.  With some commands and algorithms it can also manage the devices if it’s not meeting the required health. Then it
off load from that server to a server that is healthy. Basically it directs the traffics inside a networks to ensure better performance of the application. It also uses different DNS for storing big scripts to load the scripts quicker which makes faster and smoother performance of the application.

some of its functions are:-

    • Application Acceleration
    • RAM Caching (storage of static content)
    • SSL offloading (decryption of encrypted content)
    • Traffic shaping (appropriate distribution)
    • Multiplexing
    • Compression (compression of media content before transferring to server)
    • Content switching
    • HTTP Rewrite and Redirection.
